how does keith SET HIS MAKEUP?

"Hi.  Is there anything I can help you with?" the energetic young lady says to me batting her long eyelashes further emphasising her wide eyes and nightime smoky eyes.  "Yes, I'm looking for something that will help my makeup last throughout the day," I say.  "Like a primer," she says.  "No like a. . ."  "Setting spray," she interjects.  I agree and she walks me over to the far wall and introduces me to Urban Decay's All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray.  She picks it up and tells me to give it a try.  "This is our number one setting spray," she says.  Where am I?  I'm in Sephora at Towson Town Center, as if you really have to ask.

"I'll take it," I say and she proceeds to open the drawer to fetch me the product and I proceed to the check out counter.  I quite like the product and I notice that it's made by a company called Skindinavia as indicated on the bottle.  Wait a minute.  I've heard of that name before.  On YouTube, that's right.  So I pay Skindinavia's website a visit and discovered that they offer a setting spray that does an even better job at keeping my makeup in place-Skindinavia Bridal Makeup Finish.  This particular setting spray claims to maintain a picture perfect hold even on a bride's special day hence the name.

I can honestly say that I have no idea what I would do without this product.  The sweltering heat this summer has been unbearable and my makeup had no chance of staying in place without this.  I recently ordered my third bottle and have no signs of breathing another day without it.  The original formula is not bad either.

what's keith READING?

FASHION. . . . . Isaiah 3:16-26 The women of Judah had placed their emphasis on clothing and jewelry rather than on God.  They dressed to be noticed, to gain approval, and to be fashionable.  Instead of being concerned about the oppression around them (Isaiah 3: 14-15), they were self-serving and self-centered.  Those who misuse their possessions will end up with nothing.  Those verses are not an indictment against clothing and jewelry, but a judgement on those who use them lavishly while blind to the needs of others.  When God blesses you, don't flaunt your wealth.  Use what you have to help others.

what's in keith's MAKEUP BAG?

Covergirl Intense Shadowblast Primer + Shadow

"intensify your eyelook!  Our innovative formula of rich eyeshadow with built in primer gives you intense crease-resistant color that last for hours.  intense shadowblast is rich color that stays!"

This product has got to be the worst eye primer/shadow I have ever used.  As you can see, it looks quite ashy on my skin tone and offers no color pay off.  When applied, I get just a wash of color and when I apply too much, it starts to crease and flake.  (Good luck blending it.)  Plus it has way too much shimmer for my taste and it's not even a good base for  powder eyeshadow.  Covergirl gets an EPIC FAIL on this one.

what's keith READING?

MONEY. . . . . Ecclesiastes 10:19 Government leaders, businesses, families and even churches get trapped into thinking money is the answer to every problem.  But just as the effects of liquor are only temporary, the soothing effect of the last purchase soon wears off, and we have to buy more.  Scripture recognizes that money is necessary for survival, but it warns against the love of money (see Matthew 6:24; 1 Timothy 6:10; Hebrew 13:5).  Money can be dangerous; we use it to deceive ourselves, thinking that wealth is the easiest way to get everything we want.  The love of money is sinful because we trust it, rather than God, to solve our problems.  Those who pursue money's empty promises will discover one day that they have nothing because they are spiritually bankrupt.

how did keith CELEBRATE RICK'S BIRTHDAY?

Sunday September 30, 2012 marked Richard “Rick” Hunt’s 38th birthday.  I got him a simple birthday card, a delicious chocolate fudge cake and ice cream while Rick treated me to a vodka cranberry at The Drinkery and chicken fingers with french fries at Mount Vernon Stable & Saloon.  Rick was so happy that I finally joined him at his favorite spot—the bar—that he couldn’t stop smiling.  I kind of feel bad that I wasn’t able to treat Rick a day out for his special day but my bank account is closely hitting E.  Hopefully, I’ll be working alongside Rick at Roland Park Place and I’m really looking forward to it.  Contrary to what I’ve been telling my mother and Teon, this will be my first job in over a year.  I can’t wait to get back in the work force and finally start saving for a car and college.

While today went pretty well, I was hit with some pretty disturbing news.  It turns out that Teon is quite the “drunken whore”.  Last Friday, Rick says that he noticed Teon at The Drinkery in the company of a light-skinned guy.  Once the light-skinned guy left Teon drunk and in the dust, Teon preceded to walk around the bar and feel up on guys for a nightcap.  He even tried to feel up on Rick and Chris at which point Rick apparently cursed him out.  Unfortunately, Rick says that this is not the first time that this has happened and that’s why Rick was so rude to him when I invited him into our apartment.  Rick says that he notices him at the bar quite often getting drunk, hitting and feeling up on guys and to be honest, I feel some type of way about this whole ordeal.

I know that Teon and I aren’t together, but when we finally met up a week ago, I resurfaced all of those feelings I had for him.  I am truly still in love with him and it was pretty apparent that I really want him in my life.  Unfortunately, I think I want more than Teon is willing to offer.  I mean I’m not stupid by any means.  I pretty much knew that Teon had someone(s) in his company.  You see anyone that knows him knows that Teon is afraid of being alone and will only leave one guy after he’s found another.  Teon isn’t even in denial about his dysfunction.  Even when we had our little sexcapade last Sunday he asked if I would join him in a three-some.  I didn’t even answer him.  And once again, I feel bad for giving him a piece of my cake in hopes that he’ll want me just as much as I want him.

I’m thinking that I should just give Teon a break.  I love him too much and I’m the jealous type.  I am in an open relationship with Rick but not promiscuous by any means.  For some reason I was hoping Teon would somehow be monogamous with me.  And I’m stupid for even having that expectation.  Teon even frequents Druid Hill Park of all places for a quick fix.   I haven’t spoken to Teon in one day shy of a week and I don’t even know how to address him about this situation and who knows if I truly will.  Why is love so complicated?

what's in keith's MAKEUP BAG?

This foundation and I go way back--all the way back to 2008 when it first debut on HSN.  At the time I was using a product called The Men Pen and after the demonstrations on TV, I figured I should give this product a try.  So I went to Sephora Online and purchased the foundation in shade 175 as well as the HD Primer and Powder among other things.  Well when I got it in the mail, I was underwhelmed.  I now realize that that was because I had never used a liquid foundation before.  (At that time, I was a major rookie and had no idea how to apply it.)  So I sent the foundation and powder back but kept the primer.

Fast forward to January of 2012.  After a trip to Sephora at Towson Town Center, I decided to give this product another try and this time I bought shade 177 and I fell in love.  It's a perfect match for my skin tone and makes my skin look youthful and airbrushed.  Since it is quite expensive, I try to save it for special occasions, however I don't see a day when I'd be without it.

what's keith READING?

TRUE FRIEND. . . . . Proverbs 18:24 Many people today feel cut off and alienated from others.  Being in a crowd just makes people more aware of their isolation.  Lonely people don't need to hear "Have a nice day."  They need friends who will stick close, listen, care, and offer help when it is needed-in good and bad times.  It is better to have one such friend than dozens of superficial acquaintances.  Instead of wishing you could find a true friend, seek to become one yourself.  There are people who need your friendship.  Ask God to reveal them to you and then take on the challenge of being a true friend.

WASTED TIME. . . . . Proverbs 10:4-5 Everyday has 24 hours filled with opportunity to grow, serve, and be productive.  It is so easy to waste time, letting life slip from you grasp.  Instead, refuse to be a lazy person, sleeping or squandering the hours meant for productive work.  See time as God's gift, and seize the opportunities to live for him.
