how was keith's CHRISTMAS?

Let's start on December 23, 2011.  While doing some shopping at The Gallery, I ran into a few members of Teon's family.  Getting off the escalator on the fourth floor, a young woman taps me on the shoulder.  I turn around to see who it was and my mind drew a blank.  She could tell that I couldn't recognize her and she said that she was Teon's family.  I said Hi still not fully recognizing the young woman.  I think it was one of Teon's cousins.  I finally did recognize Teon's aunt, Gloria and she asked how I was doing.

Later that day, I watched Burlesque on New York's DVD player and I just have to say that I am truly impressed with Christina Aguilera's acting debut.  I know I'm a little late for the train on this one, but it was the best movie I've seen so far this year.  I love the quick editing which left the movie going at a fast pace creating never a dull moment.  I'm truly not a fan of musicals but this one is my favorite thus far knocking Rent off the top my list.

On Christmas Eve, I spent the day with Rick.  We did nothing but stay at his place all day after eating lunch at Ruby Tuesday's.

I woke up beside Rick on Christmas Day around 10:00 AM.  After making a few calls to some of my loved ones, we went downtown to get a bite to eat.  Luckily we found a restaurant that was open for business, M&S Grill down at the harbor.  I ate a quick meal of fried shrimp and french fries and was off to the HRC before 2:00 PM, count time.  Rick had plans with his family later that evening.  For Christmas my mother gave me a card with $80 in it.  That was about all I received this year.  Rick has yet to give me my gift but I'm a little late on his gift as well.  In fact, I have yet to order the Tretorn "Skerry" Rubber boots I told him I would get him.  Shame on me!

what's keith USING?

HIGHLIGHTS It's time to make acne shake in its boots. This #1 pharmacist-recommended acne treatment contains maximum strength Benzoyl Peroxide acne medication. The unique formula goes to work immediately, releasing the medicine deep into the pores where pimples start. It's the same prescription formula recommended by doctors and dermatologists for over ten years, currently available without a prescription.

WHAT'S IMPORTANT PERSA-GEL® 10 releases acne-fighting medication deep into the pores. It contains maximum strength Benzoyl Peroxide, a medication that fights acne-causing bacteria from the skin to help eliminate and prevent breakouts. Originally created as a doctor prescribed formula, acne-fighting PERSA-GEL® 10 is currently available without a prescription

INGREDIENTS Benzoyl Peroxide 10.0% (Acne medication), Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Laureth-4, Sodium Hydroxide, Water

Now here's a product that I can't live without.  In fact, it's my favorite acne-fighting product and I would highly recommend this product to anyone (anyone with normal to oily skin).  I usually apply this product every other night (applying every night does nothing but dry out my skin) and when I wake up in the morning, my pimples are reduced dramatically.  Now I will warn you.  Persa-gel*10 often causes redness and facial swelling especially around my eyes.  I mean sometimes I wake up and people ask me if I've been in a fight.  Inflammation is definitely a side effect but it gets rid of my breakouts nonetheless.  With the help of make-up I try to mask the redness and swelling caused by Persa-gel*10 and I try not to use it the night before I have anything special planned.  Another con--It will bleach your clothing and hair.  Other than that I hope this product stays on the market because I will be a long time loyal customer.  For sure.

why is keith TRIPPING?

OMG.  I just discovered that I have a grey hair.  WTF.  I'm only 24 years of age.  I discovered a white straight hair right in the middle of my crown while brushing my teeth.  It's still there.  I haven't pulled it out.  I'm just really taken back.  WOW.

what does keith THINK ABOUT THE NEW MOVIE, NEW YEAR'S EVE?

3/5

After Rick and I left the Open Gates health center on Friday December 16, 2011, we walked around the harbor and then we went to Landmark's Harbor East Cinema and watched New Year's Eve.  I have to say that it was pretty average.  IRick actually slept through the first half of the movie.t was a nice and refreshing comedy nonetheless considering the present holiday season.  The movie definitly picks up towards the end.   I won't go into details but my favorite story plot was that of Halle Berry with Robert DeNiro and Sarah Jessica Parker's.

how was keith's DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT?

On Friday, December 16, 2011, I went to my scheduled doctor's appointment to see just where I stand as far as my HIV infection is concerned.  Unfortunately, the results were none too pretty.  My CD4 count is 4 and my Viral Load is 42,000.  Those numbers actually classify me as having AIDS.  WTF.  OMG.  FML.  I knew my health was not at its best but not that bad.  I don't see how someone who feels as healthy as I can have such a compromised immune system.  But it all makes sense now-- the worms, the shingles.

After Dr. Jocelyn Hines went over my stats she asked me if I had anyone that I could confide in.  I thought for a moment and replied No.  It's sad to say but I really don't feel like I have anyone I can truly talk to about this.  She told me that I should think about going to some support groups much like my medical case manager, Heather Sell, already mentioned.  Dr. Hines says that she finds that those who have confidants tend to fair better than those who don't let their feelings out.  After much thinking, I came to the conclusion that you are my confidant.  I've been pouring my heart out on these pages since Day 1 and you're always available whenever I need to cry a river.  I don't think I can stomach going to a support group just yet.

During the conclusion of my session Dr. Hines gave me some prescriptions.  I'm taking hydroxyzine and loratadine for my allergies.  Since my immune system is so compromised, I'm taking sulfameth, azithromycin and mycobutin, three antibiotics, to protect me from any sort of bacterial infection.  And finally I'm taking Atripla to control the HIV infection.  I started this regimen of medications on December 17, 2011.

what's keith USING?

Unfortunately I have to start off by saying that I'm not too impressed by this product.  This product claims to combat acne while also fading blemishes caused by acne.  It does a pretty good job at fighting breakouts however I can't say that it does that great a job at fading my blemishes.  I apply this product every other night and I just don't know what to say--Hyperpigmentation tends to fade on its own over time.  When using a product that claims to fade dark spots, I expect "rapid" results and I just didn't get that.  In fact this product causes so much irritation that I really don't see how it could help after scratching my face to oblivion.  I don't think I'll be buying this product again or should I say stealing this product again.

what's in keith's POCKET?

Here's a product that I first heard of through YouTube.  Many beauty gurus have raved about this product and to be honest, I just don't get it.  It's your average run of the mill lip balm.  No better than Chapstick.  I will say that it does everything it should which is moisturize my lips.  No magic comes out of this tube.  I promise.

Now this one gets a little more exciting.  It has a subtle red sheen and it smells of cherry.  But why the huge tube, Nivea?  It's a little inconvenient for me to carry in my pocket.

how was keith's WEEKEND?

In all, I have to say that my weekend was pretty decent.  Let's start with Saturday, shall we?  I met Rick at his home.  Unfortunately when I got there he wasn't there.  I called him after his mother answered the door.  He told me to go right in and wait for him in his room.  His mother then kicked his sleeping cousin out of the room for me.  Once Rick finally made it home which was around 5:30 PM, I cursed his ass out.  We were supposed to meet up earlier in the day, however he and his best friend Darlene apparently had other plans.  He apologized and by 06:30 PM I was over my little hissy fit.

But let me spill the tea.  During our argument, I demanded Rick to show me his I.D.  He showed it to me after much reluctance and guess what I found out.  Rick was born on September 30, 1974.  That makes his 37 years old not 25 years old like I he first told me.  I let it fly because I finally revealed to him that I'm staying at the homeless shelter.  So we both got two big lies off our chest that night.  We are a couple of huge liars, aren't we?

On Sunday, we went to Towson Town Center to go look at phones.  Rick is supposed to buy me a new iPhone with Verizon Wireless for Christmas.  Once we got to the Verizon Wireless stand, it was apparent that the phone I wanted was a little too expensive so I told him to forget about it.  I should have never asked him for the phone in the first place.  Right now, he's focusing on getting a new apartment as well as a new furniture set, so I completely understand.  Afterwards, we ate at my favorite restaurant, T.G.I. Fridays, and then we went to the National Aquarium.  Pretty interesting day, if you ask me.  I fall in love with Rick more and more with each passing day.  I guess that's how it's supposed to be, right?

what's keith USING?

This product and I go way back.  Well not that far back--Maybe a a few years.  It's not my favorite acne fighting product but it does an okay job.  I normally apply it every other night or in the morning after I apply my daily moisturizer.  My favorite thing about this product is that when applied and fully dry it leaves no residue or texture.  So I can use this product before applying makeup.  Expect a burning sensation and irritation, the only two cons I can think of.

what's keith READING?

"17:  Have you ever had your heart broken?

Emma Watson:  Oh, yeah!  The first time I had my heart broken, I remember saying, I'm never going to find anyone like him again.  You always feel like that when you break up with someone or are single for a while, and it so isn't the case.  Life isn't over because it didn't work out with this one person.

17:  What's your best advice for getting over it?

Emma Watson:  Girlfriends are good, exercise is good- and chocolate!  But you have to remind yourself that the world is a huge place, and there are hundreds of opportunities and different people to meet and so many places to go."

what's keith's MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT?

I am HIV-Positive.  This comes as no surprise.  I was officially diagnosed on World AIDS Day, December 1, 2011.  Remember the STI screening I had.  Well I got my test results last Thursday and Dr. Jocelyn Hines informed me of the bad news.  Luckily, HIV and herpes are the only STI's that I currently have.  I'm going to try and make sure it stays that way.

The reason that I have delayed testing for so long was that I was afraid that I wouldn't have access to care.  I didn't want to find out if I was carrying the virus with no means of treatment.  Fortunately, I now have Primary Adult Care health insurance, however it won't cover everything.  This is where my new medical case manager comes in.  Her name is Heather Sell and her job is to help with any need I might ever have.  We're talking needs like housing, additional health coverage . . . the list goes on. Amazing, right?  I will see her whenever I go in for my doctor appointments.  My next appointment is scheduled on December 9, 2011.  It is on this visit that we will see just where I stand as far as this HIV diagnosis goes.  And now that I've finally gotten tested and am seeking the medical care that I so urgently need, I think I can finally say that I Love Me.

"Because God is never cruel, there is a reason for all things.  We must know the pain of loss, because if we never knew it, we would have no compassion for others, and we would become monsters of self-regard, creatures of unalloyed self interest.  The terrible pain of loss teaches humility to our prideful kind, has the power to soften uncaring hearts, to make a better person of a good one."

what's keith CELEBRATING?

2011
Yet another World AIDS Day.

This year, just like last year, I made a fifteen dollar donation to amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research--Five dollars in the name of yours truly, five in the name of Teon Eric Jackson and five in the name of Lance Coadie Williams.  Remember, a cure is impossible without research and that everyone may not be infected with HIV however everyone is affected.
